How to remove door handles?

I'm preparing my car to be painted and have everything off except the door handles. It's a 64 with the pull handles. Is this a bear to do? I'm worried I'll get them off and never get them back on. Looks like all the guts are up in an unreachable area.

Nah, easy...look for a screwvon the edge of the door & also up inside...you'll need to remove the door locks anyway - & they are a bear!

I found the lock EASY to remove. Simply pull off a clip and out it came. Now putting it back may be a different story as it connects to something in there. I'll figure that one part out later. If nothing else, I'd simply put the lock back on as I don't have a key that fits it anyway. I saw the two screws on the door edge next to the handle and started to try taking it off but assumed it connects to all kinds of gizmos inside and I'd never get it back together so I'm hesitant.
