how to read a volt meter charging?

Quick test drive and all is well, voltmeter said about 14~15 cruising down the road. Ignition light seems to function as it should. I'm almost there. Have to figure out why high beam indicator doesn't want to light and passenger front parking light won't go on. Other than that, electrics seem sorted. Headlights are brighter with relays in the mix.
 
If headlights are working, I'd be checking the high beam indicator bulb - I kind of think it grounds on the casing
 
I stuck a test lead into the end of the bulb holder and grounded the other end, got a flaky 12v. Ran out of time to play. Will work on it more.
 
Got the bonnet back on. Found a half broken bullet connector on my headlight grounds so now both high and low beam are happy. Got parking lights and turn signals all happy again. Heater box reinstalled, looking pretty in new paint. Wow, good couple hours poking around. Still no high beam indicator but I didn't play with that tonight. I think it isn't grounding to the speedo housing properly. Feeling pretty good over here. Only downside is winter is back with a vengeance.....
I might be able to turn my attention to tuning it soon, I'm sooo ready to get back to mechanics. I've had enough with electrical for a while!

PS I love the volt meter!

Wonderful thing about electricity: hook it all up right and it works. No judgment required. Not like adjusting carburetors or anything like that.

Very true. Problems are usually easy to fix, once you find them and in my case, often my fault during hookup.

PS I meant I love my voltmeter I put in the dash, although I like my cheap multi-tester too.

I still can't believe it's all sorted, man that feels good. I'll get that high beam indicator too. It never did work for me but I bet it's easy too. If there's voltage there, and a good ground and a good bulb, it WILL light.
