How to put a stop on the end of a choke cable?

My choke needs a lead or ?? welded on the end of the cable to actuate the choke. This is a mikuni carb so the cable goes inside the carb. No room for a screw type stop. the drawing shows a lead or something on the end. I tried solder but it only lasted for about 10 choke pulls. Any other ideas or do I need a special tool?

take it to a bicycle shop and see what they can do? (or a motorcycle shop)

I decided to try a screw in the choke mechanism. A #10 just fit so I cut off a piece drilled a hole in it, threaded the wire through the hole and welded the end. So far it works. We will see how long it lasts. At least it is all steel now, so it should not come loose.
