TR6 How to lift and support TR6 for bodywork

What it the best way to support my TR6 so that the weight of the car is going through the suspension. The rear is pretty easy in that I can use my jack stands and a pad between them and the rear trailing arms. But I am not so sure of the front. If I support it from the spring pan and run a pad on top of a block of wood to my jack stands, do you think that will be safe and not bend anything. I know I could block the tires up but I would really prefer to be able to remove the wheels to give me more working space.

Ideas, comments?

The front is easy. Just support it on the frame placing them to be centered between the front lower suspension brackets. While this will not give you the left to right stresses on the frame it will give you the front to back I assume you are seeking.
 
In reading “How to restore a tr6”, he recommends to support the car from the suspension points and have it loaded with as much “real weight” (engine, trans, diff etc) to have the frame flexed as if it were on the road. We have all noticed how the doors pinch when you jack these things up, but if supported from the proper points this won’t happen. Since I am doing rocker and sill work I need the frame in the correct road going position.

This way the frame is loaded in the same way the rear wheels would.
