How to keep your plastic windows clear?

Hmmmmm fogged flashpaper windows. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Yep the the pharmacy.

This morning I used Meguires NXT to polish out some spots and small scratches on the hard clear plastic cover over the gauges and on the radio display in my new used, non-lbc car. Works as well or better than any dedicated plastic polish I have ever used. Left the plastic absolutely crystal clear.

Given its also an excellent wax, one less bottle to stock on the shelf.

Has anyone tried the glycerin trick? I hate to ruin my rear window. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Meguiars makes a two stage plastic polish that is pretty good. At Advance, it's in the little section where they have boating stuff.

I did try the glycerin....It didn't seam to do all that much....It was greasy for a few days, then it cleared back up to normal....I didn't notice much of a difference, but I only did a small side window.

I've used 'corn starch' and a lambs wool polish disc on a previous roof. Got out the surface scratches. This method also cleaned up my motorcycle perspex 'windshield'. A synthetic polish disc will burn the plastic. I think this is a fairly old fashioned method, used to polish paint?
Craig.

Anyone used Meguires PLASTIX???Looks interesting

Any chance of an update on this?
I have some plastic sidescreens (not hard plastic) that have started to become opaque.
Did anyone else try the glycerine??

Go to a motorcycle shop (Harley shops carry it) and get the squeeze bottles of plastic windhield/fairing polish. It comes in two grades for polishing (light) and for removing scratches/yellowing (med) and I can't remember the name-brain lock (I'm overseas so can't look in the clutered garage)...it is tremendous and has kept my plastic windows pliable and new looking for years. You will notice the dif immediatley. (white squeeze bottles with red lettering for one and blu for the other-what a memory huh).

Alright, I remembered the name of the motorcycle plastic polish "NOVUS" is the name. See my other comment in this thread.

Glycerin is nothing but Very a high sugar concentration. Use the stuff on cloudy corneas. Yea eyeballs! make a swollen white cornea crystal clear, tastes horrible and the third part of a perfect soap bubble.
I never used it on plastic and have the perfect rear window on my hardtop that will be my test.
