How to get the liners out ?

I have my spare engine down to just the liners. I would like to get it to the machine shop this Sat morning. So far I have not been able to get any one of the liners to move. I was going to take it off the stand, cut a 2x4 to fit over the liner and go after it with a long 2x and sledge hammer. Do you think this will work?

Thanks guys...

The hammered wood block would seem the next step but if that doesn't move it, maybe this (haven't tried this myself so consider it to be 'FWIW'):

Have heard of some making a drift out of a length of threaded iron pipe with a brass cap on the end.

Again -- this info is anecdotal so use good judgement.

Thanks, I was also considering that...
