How to connect horn wiring 57 100/6 BN4

I was running my new wiring harness this weekend and got to my horns. On my original horns I have two short wires which had been cut by the PO. Inside the horn these short wires are stripped of insulation then slid into brass fittings then into the horn itself. The rubber grommet on the back of the horn protects it from exposure.

My new harness has lucas connectors which are smaller than the brass fittings inside the horn housing. My question is: On the original car was the wiring harness hard wired into the brass fittings of the horn or do I need to make new short wires fit to the brass horn fittings on one end, then add Lucas connectors to the other end to attach it to the new harness.

Mine were hard-wired. If you clip off the (Lucar or bullet) connectors, leaving as much wire length as possible, you can run the wires directly into the horns.
 
I have a 57 BN4, and mine were hard wired too. (At least when I got the car 32 years ago)... :yesnod:
