How to clean a Lucas Headlight?

I bought some Lucas PL 700 Tripod headlights off ebay. They are in very good shape, but I think the inside of the lens assembly might need a bit of cleaning. I think that over the years the inside has gotten dusty. I know I can take the bulb out and have an opening that will accomedate a small brush or maybe just some cleaning liquid to slosh around inside the enclosure. Does anyone know what I can do to clean without damaging the reflective surface?
Thanks,
Charlie

not sure about the reflective surface, but, have heard of people running them through the dishwasher.

I have them on my TR6 and I cleaned them with spray Windex and a small flexible plastic spoon that I used to push a micro fiber cloth around inside. Just take your time and go carefully and you will see much brighter lighting. I used it on the reflectors too.

I did cut the cloth in half so as to not have too much jammed inside the light. Go easy with the Windex too. Better to make two passes at it than to have soggy a mess in there.

Paul, that is what I thought I might have to do. Just a small patch of lightly wetted cloth and having to do it several times. I have not started cleaning the lights yet. My time has been taken up reinstalling the carbs after rebuilding them. I hope to finish that today and then clean the headlights. Thanks for your advice!
