How often /what classic cars are on your road ?

Classic as in anything over about 30 years, being driven on a fairly regular basis and what types are they?

Around here, I see VW beetles on a very frequent basis probably at least one a day. (not including my Fathers) Old Fiats (124 / 127 and 600s) at least once a month or so. I also saw a very nice blue Spitfire driving twice this summer. There are also a few older American cars 60- 70's which seem to get driven fairly frequently.
Most anything else of that age is seen infrequently enough to take a second glance.
So what older cars are rolling around your neighborhood?
 
I live in New Mexico and we are 'rust-free.' I see many classics too numerous to mention. Having come from New England and Florida I have to say that when living there I always noticed the classics. I still notice the classics but see them on such a regular basis that my stare is determined by safety. In New England and Florida I almost always came to an abrupt slow down/stop to see driving technique.

70herold, i live in stamford ct, surrounding towns are darein, greewich, and new canaan, on any given day you might see a new dino or f1, a carmen ghia, mgtd, 32 ford three window, bug eyed sprites etc. all at the same intersection the list is endless itll make ya sick i tell ya. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
 
The most common classic around here tends to be the American muscle car, although not in great numbers. That should give you some idea........

I see a Corvair convertible on a regular basis on my daily commute, always heading in the opposite direction to me /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
 
Depends on the time of year, I think. Not many in winter. In warm months, there are a few LBCs zipping about on a regular basis.

Lots of American muscle cars, most seem partially restored, though. The LBCs are mostly MGBs and TR3 and TR6s with a Spitfire or so thrown in. Mine is the only GT6 I've seen around town here.

A friend of mine drives a Shelby Cobra replica with a 427 side-oiler in it, you can hear it coming a mile away! He also has a Morgan, a MINI JCW and a Lola racer, very lucky guy.

Not nearly enough LBCs on the road in an area with so much money around. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cry.gif
 
I'd have to say the classics (~30 yrs) I seen on the road the most around here are mine. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

But I'd have to say I do see a lot of old VW Bugs around here. Next would have to be old trucks.

Don't get me wrong I see all sorts everyday but the ones I listed are seen the most.
 
In north Alabama? Old pickups!
 
I live in New Market, Md, which is 30 minutes from both DC and Baltimore. Sad to say, the only classics I see are a few 60's mustangs and cameros. There's a TR-6 parked at a home about five miles from me, but I never see him on the road. This summer we've seen maybe 4 MG's, two Trimuphs, and that's about it. Now we drive the 100-6 3 or 4 hundred miles every weekend, and will encounter other lbc's on some of the mountain roads up in Western Maryland and West Virginia, but that's not really in our neighborhood.

There's a nice Shelby Cobra that drives by from time to time & a few early 70's vette. My neighbor has a Model T that he rarely takes out. Other than that, not much. I am about the only car guy that I know of in my town. The only other time I see them in my town is during parades.
 
I see a couple of MGAs, a few Triumph TR6s, one Triumph TR3, a few MGBs (no GTs), an Austin American, a huge red late 50s Caddy, and numerous Corvettes, Camaros, Beetles, & Mustangs.
 
There seems to be lots of stuff around here. At least in the summer.
On my street , there's me with my Jeep, and the guy down the way with a mid 50s chrysler town and country, and a mid 70s Ford truck, out behind us is a guy restoring a 50s vette, and some really old (30s) sedan. there used to be a guy on the corner that built street rods, and his buddies would all drive thiers over every now and then.
there's also a Countach replica about a mile away, and my buddy with his shop full of oldies.
Being situated on the main southbound road out of Watkins Glen, I see lots of BMWs and Porsches on fridays, heading up for Klub events, lots of LBCs around the vintage and historic weekends (and just on the nice days during the summer) and there are lots of 50s and 60s US iron rolling around.
For as bad as we have it with the road salt, I guess I live in a fairly fertile classic car region.
There's a drive -in car show in a parking lot somewhere within 20 miles of here almost every night of the week during the nice weather.
Of course if you go to one, you've pretty much seen 'em all. it's the same group that frequents most of 'em. All American, all V8.
oh welll... it's still cool.
 
I live just around the corner from an ice cream shop. As soon as the weather warms up, the boys get their old cars out, and take the girls for ice cream. I sit on my front step, and have a personal car show every night (unless it rains). Everything from a 28 Chev to a ZO6, including at least a 1/2 doz. LBCs.
Sure is nice.

Do abandoned cars in the ditches count as Classics on your road?

other than me and a couple other BRITISH fans, I've mentioned ol' Fremont, NE before...In a farming community of 25,000 It's a town where antique tractors, pickemup trucks and a few Muscle cars roam.....I can't wait to show em my AUSTI A-35 Panel at the JOHN C. FREMONT DAYS car show next year....course I'll put a hay bale in the back so they know what it's used for (movin 1 bale of hay at a time)!!!
 
I saw a split window VW a few times in NJ which seemed to be a driver and not just on its way to a show. I man just across the Delaware River has about 40 classics and drives them frequently. There is a mid 60's Vette out often and a black E-Type which I can not find where it lives.

Let's see here...

There's a ~late~ 70's possibly early 80's Camero just down the street from me. I don't know about how often it's driven but it must be pretty often because the owner always parks it on the street.

There's a Fiat 124 around the block from me. Same as the Camero, it's parked on the street and always in a different spot, only the street this one parks on is very busy.

I see a 70's MGB around the block occasionally on the same street as the Fiat. It's a rubber bumper, but the front plate is mounted ~under~ the bumper. If it weren't for the front plate mounting difference it'd be the wire wheel twin of my car.

For a while there, I passed 2 MGBs on my way to and fro work. both were CBs: one was possibly early type painted what I call baby blue. The other was painted OEW with a tan cloth top; not sure if it was stayfast or mohair.

A couple of blocks further up, at my friends place, I frequently see a Alpine Tiger drive by. I've also seen a Truimph TR250 (I might have messed the model up).

I've also seen a Shelby Cobra in the area. However, I have not seen it close enough to know if it was real or replica. But it sure sounds ~nice~ /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

At the office, we have one guy that likes driving his '65 Mustang to work a lot. Not as much as I drive my B, but he's definitely #2 in the drives a classic to our office leader boards /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif We also use to have one guy that occasionally drove a late 60's Ranchero to the office; not very often but he did it.

I've also seen Alfa Romeros, Jag E-Types, MGBs, and 70's vintage Mercedes Benz in the various parking lots around the office.

Here in Calgary I see lots of classic cars just being driven around (at least in the non-winter months).

During an average driving trip through the city I'll see some classic car of some sort... Mostly American stuff, plus some classic import stuff too... There's even one construction contractor here who has a complete fleet of 1962/67 Chevy pickups, and his personal truck is a Suburban Carryall of similar vintage.

Of course come winter all the classics disappear indoors for a few months, deservedly so.

Like yellow '70s Dodge Coronets used as high-speed desert taxis. My son used these for transportation between Beirut and Damascus while studying there. Average speed: 100mph. My guess is they don't rust in the desert. A few bullet holes.

I am constantly amazed by the "museum pieces" I see on the road around here on a regular basis! I have seen everything from classic Deusenbergs, to old Alfas (20s & 30s) and even a 54 Ferrari Barchetta! most of them come out of the woodwork here in the wintertime though (our dry season, and also when the "well-heeled" come down to "play"!)
