How often should carb damper oil need topping up?

I was just out checking stuff and noticed the carb damping oil is low. I just filled those a few weeks ago after going through the carbs. Seems like a lot of leakage to me. What say you folks?

Which carb? Zed-S or SU?

Should be SU's on your year but never know with forty years' worth of PO's/rebuilds.

Doh! I forgot to add that info. SU HS2, no mods, new jets from VB.

It is only low if the plunger does not suck when pushed up or down. Oil will not stay filled all the way to the top.

Should only be up to the top of the piston tube, too (inner "lip" looking down the bore from above). Not above it. Some could be getting past the needle but not likely. Check and top up maybe once a month with steady driving, normally.
