The (almost) one-handed version.On my 1995 Dodge Dakota V8

1. Warm truck up
2.Place down plastic mat (for any spills)
3.Place new oil containers & filter next to truck
4.Set drain container close by to drain used filter into
5.Set empty oil container close by(5 quart) to put used oil into
6.Set ratchet & socket nearby for drain plug
7.Jack up truck & use jack stands
8.Put drain pan under truck
SO FAR SO GOOD
9.Remove drain plug (while dropping gasket into it)
10.Let drain
11.Try & remove oil filter (there's barely room between the frame & body)
12.Drop used oil filter into drain pan
13.Drop paper towel into drain pan
14.Put drain plug back on (after finding a new gasket somewhere in the garage)
15.Try & install new oil filter
16.Notice it would work better if you turned the wheel away from the truck
17.Struggle,& FINALLY get new filter on
18.Start up & check for leaks
19.No leaks! - Pull drain pan with used oil out from under truck
20.Remove jack stands & lower truck
21.Pull used filter, paper towel & drain plug gasket out of dirty oil in drain pan
22.Clean up oil spilled on plastic mat
23.Clean up tools,mat & myself

This all took just 1-1/2 hours. The good news is that nobody saw me doing it!
Now I get to do it again on the "New" Dakota

Both running just fine (for now),but I haven't
changed the oil on the "New" one .....yet.
