I've got just a few hours over a week before I leave this god forsaken frozen tundra and then back to sunny California to finish up the B and need to order some por15 for the trunk. How much will be required to get the trunk floor the inside of the quarter panels and the front bulkhead covered?
 
Echo what John said - follow the Metal Ready and PRO15 directions carefully. Makes a noticeable difference when you do. Guess how I know that - LOL.
 
I would buy a kit with a six pack of half-pints, a quart of metal ready and a quart of Marine Clean. You can open only what you use and have some left in the cans, unopened, for the next job.

Ditto to what Bruce said. Also, I saw a tip on storing that seems to work. Put some plastic wrap over the can before you put the lid on. Otherwise you'll have to jackhammer it off. Then store it upside down in the refrigerator.
 
I'd like to echo Bruce and Gregs' comments about purchase size and storage. The stuff has about a 6 month shelf life. Once the cans are opened they pick up moisture from the air and shorten this life by quite a bit. Buying the 6-packs allows you to only open small quantities at a time.

The last time I bought the 6-packs you could mix and match colors. I bought a mix of silver and black. I used one color for the base coat and a contrasting color for the second coat so I could tell that I had sufficient coverage.

I hadn't heard about storing the cans in the fridge. I had tried filling the air space in them above the paint with Argon from my welder but I didn't see much improvment from that.

I had pretty good luck with the plastic wrap/refrigerator storage method. I wish I had tried the upside-down-can thing, I never even thought of it!

POR-15 coverage is really, really good considering how thin it is. You will be able to get more use out of a small can of it than you think.

Wear latex gloves if you are serious about being a hand model for rings or wrist watches.
