How many ways can you say UGLY!!!!

It may be beautiful to me but it really is ugly!
In reality it is a "Datsun 210 transmission test rig" and it tests both 4 and 5 speed transmission and it works BEAUTIFULLY!
I can drive it into the driveway, swap to another transmission and be driving again in under 30 minutes.
So now when I sell a transmission it will have been tested under "real-world" conditions!
(Rick- your "Dogleg" is perfect and Scott your 5-speed is GREAT!)

I like the kink in the tie rods on the veewee front end.

If you look closer you will find an amazing number of "interesting" features on this thin but I got it cheap and it was pretty easy to convert to a 210 engine.

and put a big block in it....

That is quite brilliant.

Bill - I've said it before and I'll say it again:

YOU FREAKIN' AMAZE AND AMUSE ME!!!

(on a regular basis)

BRILLIANT!!!!!!!

No one ever said a test mule needed to be "pretty" just functional. But it seems to me your test mule might be fun-ctional too! I like it!

So... what is that from from?

As some of you have probably figured it is the remains of a Datsun 620 pickup (front and top were mashed). The body was removed and the bentup front cut off and a VW bettle front suspension put on. This HAD a J-15 engine which will be going into my MGA (if I ever finish it). The E & J Datsun engines were almost EXACT copies of the "B" block and it will be hard to tell it from the original MGA engine (the Datsun 5-speed behind it will be hard to ID too).
I picked it up a couple of years ago since it was advertised as a Datsun 5-speed but it had a 4-speed at the time.

If you can find a scrapped TD kit car, the body might just "fit"...for kicks and giggles!
Might as well find SOME good use for those "things".

Bill, is that my tranny in the pics??

that would be cool!!

And that folks might be a hoot to play with. Not only that but you could turn your 16 year old loose with out a fear in the world.

Bill, that's a real chick magnet in SC!! You need to add another seat though fer the ladies.

I thought the lady sits in your lap?...

My daughter came home right after I took those pictures and asked "can I drive it!!!". That is about the most enthusiastic comment that she has ever made about a car of mine! (and Yes- she did drive it around the block a few times after she figured out the clutch, she is 18 and drives that white Chevy with automatic in the background).
I did put in the other seat so I could monitor her clutch work.

That must have been fun!!
Nice family moments out in the redneckmobile... Memories are made of such stuff... :jester:
