I do all the cooking in my home. My sweet wife is a terrible cook, doesn't like it. Does everything else great but cooking is not her forte. I, on the other hand, have always cooked, raised three sons with big appetites (plus their many friends) and enjoyed every minute.

How many of you cook?

That said, I am not a gourmet cook, just solid vittles. With a little flair.
 
Janet and I both cook. And, if I do say so, we're both not too bad! She has her "specialties", as do I.

Works out fine!

Tonight it's her red beans and rice!
 
I can make hot water for tea in the microwave oven.

Otherwise, my part of the deal is that I wash dishes and unload the dish-washer.
Safer for both of us if I keep away from food preparation. :laugh:
 
My wife is a better cook but I do most of the cooking. This mostly because I work from home and so it is easier, that and she doesn't enjoy the day to day pasta and sauce kind of meals (my forte) but if she has time to cook Oh my - happy house indeed!
 
I do a lot of it, mostly outdoors on the Weber. I, like JP am home more than Her. More joy than burden, fer certain.

'smits is a fine cook. She just hasn't the time for prep and execution that I do.
"One hand washes the other" is what we've got.

BTW: I love the comment about your kids' pals, Bill... I was both one of the friends and the progeny of the "chef". Just Italian instead of Mid-Eastern. Mantra was: "Mangia!"

I cook sometimes. Not very often though. I specialize. I make a mean pot roast and a few other dishes. I also make an apple pie that has literally won awards. (pretty proud of that) Generally though, my wife is the cook and I do the other household stuff. She's practically a gourmet chef so I feel like I'm getting the better end of that deal...
 
I love to eat good food so I learned to cook. When we were old enough my mom had us each cook a meal a week. We set the table every day and washed dried and put away. These lessons have served me well. I can make a meal out of whatever there is in the cupboard, even when my gal thinks there is nothing. One of the best skills you can acquire is the ability to cook.
 
I cook occasionally and on the grill outdoors until recently. My son got interested and went the whole Weber and charcoal scene. He's pretty good at it, too. He does a mean pulled pork, ribs and brisket in his smoker. My specialty, though, is artisan bread. It's a passion almost as strong as my bugeye. Here's a sample. Baguettes in the foreground, Batards to the rear. Yum!

That bread looks great! We're a gluten-free household here (wife's celiac) so I rarely get the good loafs anymore.

I'm the cook in the house here. I love to eat, so I made sure to learn from my parents when I was growing up. Good thing, too, as my wife can open the box and follow the microwave instructions -- usually.

When I broke my ankle last year the worst part for my wife was the first week when I couldn't be up at all and she had to deal with feeding us. In short order I was up in the kitchen on crutches making the vittles.

I'm no gourmet but I do a reasonable job. Adding in the gluten-free makes things more complicated, but I'm flexible. Still make a mean pizza and biscuits all from scratch.
 
I cook, I also shop, every night. We have a market and nice meat market within a mile of our home. Since my wife had a 9 to 5 job and I was self employed we would talk in the afternoon then I would head out and bring home whatever we decided on for dinner. That started many years ago. I realized that I really enjoyed cooking.
I will take a shot at anything. From babyback ribs to mexican to italian to Thanksgiving dinner.
Now it's mostly healthy cooking, which isn't hard to do and can be very tasty.
 
I challenge anyone to beat me... I can call the pizza shop and order dinner in a flash!
No cooking for me... I'll stick to wrenching.

Same here, home more than her. I do most of it now and I love it. Then again, it depends what's on the menu. With me, no matter what the creative venue, I need to be in the mood.

I cook occassionally. Make a mean red chili con carne (even won an award for it once). I'd like to take a cooking class and actually learn what I'm doing.
 
I do most of the cooking around here, and am a fairly skilled cook. I will also try most anything, and am interested enough that I have been a subscriber to Fine Cooking for almost 19 years.

Right now I have Jamie Oliver's " Crazy Moroccan Lamb (spiced chickpeas on the bottom, meat in the middle, and a layer of couscous with sour cherries on top) in the oven. Except I used chicken instead. YUM!
 
When the kids and friends visit, I make breakfast every morning. Pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, French toast, the works! In all the years we've been married, the wife still can't cook eggs! I guess because she doesn't like them. Ok, I know it'll kill me and I'll die a horrible death, but I like my eggs cooked over easy in bacon fat! Oily and slippery when they hit the plate and a pile of hash browns! My dad cooked breakfast also and his eggs were cooked in an inch of lard. My boys called his eggs floaters! He ate them all his life. He was 90 when he died. Go figure.
 
Scrambled eggs are what I do best for breakfast, a tradition handed down from my Dad(must be a Russian thing). None of the girls in the family can come close, I think that might be a patience thing. My wife taught me how to make pie crust years ago,(women prefer to make cakes, and men prefer to eat pies, so I learned to make pies),and since then, I have won awards for my apple pies. When the Holiday's come around I do all the pies for the family.My wife does all the rest of the cooking. In 35 years she has been perfect, whether she is following a recipe, or winging it......until last week. She made a rice dish that was bland, I told her to pack her bags and get out.
 
I cook on the weekends, my wife cooks or orders out on the weekdays. I enjoy cooking, so if we're having people over for dinner, I'll do the main courses and mama will take care of appetizers. Sometimes I'll surprise mama and cook her favorite dish during the week...potato pancakes with applesauce. I start by peeling potatoes...just like I used to watch my grandmother make them. There's a mess of recipes that I've managed to duplicate that oma used to make. Some of them took awhile to get the taste as I remember, such as the bohnen salat (green bean salad). I tried fresh beans, frozen beans, but it wasn't until I used<span style="font-style: italic"> canned French style</span> green beans that I got it right. After thinking about it, oma was into modern conveniences, so opening a can was a lot easier then preparing fresh beans.
 
I cook a fair amount. Wife is an excellent cook although she won't admit it. I usually do the "fancier" stuff but she is the primary one.
