...just like me. I wake up, go straight to work, come home, up for two hours, get cleaned up and straight to bed, wake up and do it all over again. It'll probabaly be a week before I can check this thread again.

Anyone else here like this?

8870 post.
That's proof enough I don't have a life.

Make that 8871

I feel better now.
I have 4 hours to your 2.
Dinner, a movie,check the Fourm,maybe
a light read to put me to sleep,
then do it again.
The weekend is late Sat afternoon, and
Sunday the wife wants to do something out,
which is fine because her week resembles mine.

I did not used to have a life...but retirement ended my time of working 80 to 90 hour work weeks. Retirement is much more fun, but when I was single, the work hours were fine...the rest of the time went to "cooking", taking car of the dogs, and keeping the house sort of in working order.

To quote a certain favorite character: "Life... Don't talk to me about life..."

:jester:

In all honesty, I have one:

A life-mate who not only puts up with me, but is also stunningly supportive.

A "J-O-B" allowing me to run barefoot thru this digital realm at will, satisfying mechanical conveyances to allow me terapy, a climate in which I thrive (for all but a few weeks!), no kids or grandkids to encumber us, a past I'm proud of and a future I can look forward to...

In short, I'm lovin' LIFE!!!

If I had Snoopy's "Happy Dance" .gif it'd be <HERE>.

WHOOHOO!!!

"What're we doin' NOW?!?!"

beats not working...

I do my best to "not work", Elliot.

I know better doc!

"Don't TAZE me, bro!"

Well said, Doc, well said.

Everyone's life is a balancing act, sometimes that balancing act doesn't go too well. I've had a couple of stretches like Billy posted, but no more. I've turned down jobs that were far more lucrative than my current one because I didn't want to work all the time. I know it doesn't make me happy to be that scheduled, so I do what I can to avoid it.

I also know that sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do; bills have to be paid, stuff's gotta get done.

Like Doc, I'm very happy with my current situation -- a good partner and a job with enough income to make life workable, but not so much time to take over. I just need to work on the climate bit...

Every since my job moved from a 5 minute drive to 1 hour away, my life has been like this, just add in homework with the kids, read a story to at least one of the kids, work with reading with my older son, English with my daughter and getting up about 29 times in the middle of the night when the twins wake up crying about something. Even the weekends are busy with 5 kids looking for attention. Well now off to make 5 sandwiches to send to school tomorrow.

I'm starting to see a pattern on the real reason it takes so long to restore a little British car. An hour drive for me one way to work. A Management position, so the company would like to see me donate a lot more time over the ten/twelve not including the drive time.

For years I chased my tail working two jobs, working full time and going to school full time, and caught in the corporate world. The first step I took to freedom was to start my own consulting business and set it up so I only worked 20 hours a week and charged enough that I only needed less. After 15 years of that tough schedule I retired at 62. Now a couple years later I cannot figure how I ever came up with 20 hours a week to work. Life is great!

Retirement - ain't it grand! Used to work constantly, job, home, kids, social commitments, etc. I finally learned to say 'no.' Didn't realize what a powerful and grand word it is.

Retirement is grand! Only thing is, I never knew the true meaning of a honey do list until then.(Grin). We were married in 1957, before a lot of you were born. She put up with me all those years and is still with me today. She is a strong supporter in my sickness for British cars and airplanes and can still wrap me around her little finger with a smile. Ain't life grand! PJ
