I also have two RC planes, about 25 hand-built model steam engines, a compressor and a bicycle pump. And I'm pretty sure that the radial compressors in our Mazda A/C systems have at least 6 pistons each!

Whats that, 43?

It seems unfair that a Honda 4 would count more than a Royal Enfield twin, or that a Ford Explorer counts more than a Lotus 7.

Those Commandos may only have 2 pistons, but there is an 89 mm stroke!

In another thread I brought this up that I was comparing cylinders of my cars to my inlaws' ...

My cars:
8 cyl: '69,'89 and '02 Corvettes and Expedition
6 cyl: Olds Intrigue
4 cyl: TR3, TR7 and Dodge 600ES
total: 52

My inlaws:
12: '33 Lincoln KA, '48 Lincoln Continental, '73 Jag E-Type
8: '65 Impala SS, '67 El Camino, '89 GMC Sierra, '00 Jag S 4.0, '03 Lincoln Navigator

Total: 76

Looks like I'm going to have to invest in some Caddy and Marmon V16s to get my ass back in the arms race!

I acquired the my bosses 1147 out of his old Spitfire MkII for mine yesterday. So that brings my total to 38. Now I am only 212 cylinders from the lead, woo hoo. I'm just happy to have a new engine to begin tinkering with over christmas break.

Lets count.Way to many

My rather modest collection:

72 GT6Mk3 - 12 (Engine plus brake & clutch masters and wheel cylinders)
98 Rodeo - 12 (Engine plus brake & clutch masters and wheel cylinders)
02 Intrepid - 11 (Engine plus brake master and wheel cylinders)

Toro Lawnmower - 1
3 x bicycle pumps - 3 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

Pretty lowly total since even my lawn mover is manual push operated.

so Neon 4 + Scimitar 6 = 10

Considering where you live, I figured you'd also have a V-12 snowblower! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

Yep, I'm pretty low on this totem pole:

'05 MINI = 4
2 Ford Tauruses = 12
'70 Ford Mustang = 8
Honda mower = 1

25 cylinders, about 875 HP. Hmmm, that would make one weird engine? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Well, I just bought a '76 RD 400, so I'm up to 45 now I guess. Bicycle pumps and air compressors would make it easily over 50, but I don't think I want to go there.

What do you have for thumpers?

Actually, only one should really be called a thumper.

I have two small street/ enduro bikes; a Yamaha 125 (2 stroke) and a Suzuki 100 (4 stroke). We play around on them when I have relatives over.
The true "thumper" is a Honda FT 500 Ascot. Mine has rear-set foot pegs and narrow race-race bars, but otherwise, it looks like the one pictured below.

rod-sida.gif

I have been involved in bikes just as long as cars and airplanes. For almost 10 years I ran off-road AMA enduro events in the eastern U.S. (E.C.E.A.). I was so slow, even Ed Hertfelder would pass me (but I do have a signed copy of his book!).
Along the way, I ran the Meteor and The Sandy Lane Enduro (two of the oldest motorsports events in the U.S.) One of my brothers actually rode the Alligator Enduro in Florida and another brother still rides (he just bought an XR-250). My favorite bike was a Kaw KDX-200, but I've owned some weird bikes including a Rotax/CanAm, KTMs, a Bultaco, a Montessa trials bike, a Sears/Puch "twingle" and even an Italian Harley 100cc.
Broke too many bones in bike-enduro so I quit but I still like my Ascot for the street. My first bike (in '67) was a 305 Scrambler.

I bought my little Ascot like that new for my little brother in the mid 80's. $1000 out the door. It had a 6 month warranty and got a new cylinder head and piston on warranty. They will overheat if pushed. Flat out from Lee Vining to Mojave aparently pushed it.

My dad has one just like the one in the photo, except he had it reapholstered in in red leather.

The square instruments and headlight sure date it, don't they? They really went square there for a couple years.

I like the Ascot. My dad was thinking of buying a Buell Blast, and I suggested that he save a few thousand and buy a used Ascot, he would be happier, and he was. He likes to putt around on back roads and dirt roads, and he hates the height of DP bikes, plus he puts pretty slowly. He had owned a Suzuki Savage and a GB 500 Honda before that. The Savage rode too poorly, the GB 500 had too low and forward of bars, plus too narrow for the low speed dirt roads he likes.

His cancer kept him off it this year, but he didn't sell it.

Hey, I forgot my Norton! Its a 750 Combat Commando That's a couple more for me!
