General Tech How loose can a piston liner be?

I have purchased new pistons liners for a TR3 block/engine. My machinist is worried, he feels the diameter of the lower machined surface of the liner (the bit that sticks below the liner seating lip) may be incorrect. He is using the liners he removed as his point of reference. These are the dimensions:

Outside diameter of liner removed - 3.625"
Outside diameter of new liner purchased (all 4) - 3.620"

The old liners took some effort to remove, and will not slip back without mechanical help.
The new liners slip in and out no problems.

Does anybody have advice as to what the correct fit should be?

All help is appreciated
Yours sincerely

When I replaced my TR3A liners I hammered out the old and the new ones just dropped in. Several thousands miles since with no problem.

My experience was the same as Geo's.
