How high will it go?

Take a look at this:

This is the highest I've seen so far, and the reserve is not met yet; do you suppose all the rubber and hydraulics are in working order?

I bought a '76 with 29K original miles and replaced all the cooling hoses and need to rebuild the clutch master due to sitting for years. The PO did service the car anually, but it still needs stuff. Quite a price so far. . .

Nice car but (my opinion) a shame it hasn't been driven. I know some can enjoy a car just by owning it but these aren't oil paintings or Remington bronzes. Just looking at them doesn't do it for me.

Hope it goes to someone who will drive.

This car shows a Chestnut boot in the trunk, but the interior is the Light Tan. I wonder why they changed the trim scheme?

Yup, there are the drivers/wrench twisters and the waxers. And those that share parts of each.

Most Triumph people are of the first category, I've found.

There was a '76 several years ago in Hemmings that ran for a long time. I think it had 7 miles and they wanted $40+.
I have a feeling there are several of these cars still lying around.

I bet the reserve is at $37,500, but nobody will go up to that.

I agree, we're not talking about the last Bugatti in existence. What a waste, having it and not driving it is like a broken pencil - pointless. It's not a car if you don't drive it.

OK rant over - for now.

That's pretty high to still have a reserve.
Check out this other one starting at 25K. Wierd placement of the flag sticker!

From what I understand, the graphic stickers seen on this car were put on after they were exported into the US and the US Leyland dealers put them on. However, I agree the placement of the flag decal is just strange.

I think the 6 won't get to the reserve though.

The first one has a different tire as a spare. Interesting with such low miles the spare has been changed?

Had the original owner invested his $7,000 well in '76 instead of buying this car as an investment, I wonder how much he would have today. Probably the same memories.

LOL, that is so true. Why not just hang a picture of a TR6 on the wall?

I got this from The Inflation Calculator: (2007 wouldn't calculate)

What cost $7000.00 in 1976 would cost $25337.96 in 2006.

Also, if you were to buy exactly the same products in 2006 and 1976, they would cost you $7000.00 and $1933.86 respectively.

On the other hand, $7,000 invested conservatively at 5% with compound interest would be worth $30,254 today.

Playing the market successfully and returning at 8.75% would give you back $87,895 on your $7,000 investment.

What is that mounted to the right of the wiper motor?

I don't have one on my 74. I think that it's a counter for the emission system? Definitely speedometer/mileage related.

That's exactly what it is - an EGR servicing switch. At some point, I can't recall, it activates an internal switch that illuminates the dash EGR reminder light. It supposedly could only be reset by a special "key" which was turned in the side of the unit. The special "key" of course was only given to authorized mechanics, but any hack with a paper clip could reset the unit. These were only on 75's and 76's.

Let's hope it hits $40K

Interesting; in the ad copy the car has been from Virgina to Oregon to Florida without any build up of mileage; it spent a lot of time on a transporter.

Yeah, I had one on my '76 Spit. But it jammed up and stopped the speedo from working, so I took it out and put a standard speedo cable in.
