Hey, I need one of those so I can sleep longer in the morning and still get to work on time
Dave

Thanks JP!! That was great!

...can you say: "traffic cones"??? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

Heres another one with an even better finish!

Besides I've got a personal interest in this one.

And no I don't own a Ford Sierra.... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Now I'm going to have to dig into the old video archives and find some stuff I taped years ago...all comparisons like that, even including an F1 car vs an F1 bike!!

Jeremy Clarkson is a hoot!

Just reminds you what fantastic athletes the F1 drivers are! And holy cow, those cars are FAST!

Great vid!

Thanks for that one Bret!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Wicked speed differential...

I did a Mid-O race w/ the SRF guys in our ITB group once.

About messed myself a couple times when those little doorstops whizzed by the Pinto.

They later said that they were likewise apprehensive.
(Mostly do to size & weight)

Mass is a KILLER at speed! What's that "Pinto" weigh compared to a doorstop?

YIKES! Traffic cones with MASS! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

2490 -vs- 1670

I checked out their forum after the race weekend...

There were a lot of guys talking about the peculiar grouping.

They thanked us for minding our mirrors & not squishing em.

One of those things where we were all in agreement not to do again /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif

That kind of mis-matching was somewhat responsible for the death of two of my dearest friends some years back.

Bad juju.

Yep...Down right scary...

That's why I'm a bit surprised that they let Clarkson drive in that one video.

Let me tell you...
There is a BIG difference between watching somebody get passed that fast & being the guy getting passed.

Like 1955 LeMans scary!

You ain't kiddin'! First hand experience here as well. At an open track day once with my TR6 and the organizers let a Viper ACR driver talk his way onto the track with us 'slower' cars after we had all ready begun our session. Under the guise of giving a charitable ride to an attractive young woman.

I was trundling down the front straight at just about 110mph. About halfway down the straight I checked my rearview and saw nothing but empty track behind me so I concentrated on the front view and began looking for my braking point. I had no idea the Viper was even on the track with us until he passed me at over 150mph. Just seconds after I had seen nothing but empty track behind me.

When we came off the track at the end of our seesion, several of us bypassed our pit areas and drove straight to the organizers tent. The Viper driver ended up being escorted to the gates and asked to not return for the rest of the weekend with ANY of his cars. He not only scared most of the people on the track but evidently the young woman had also gotten quite scared and didn't want anything to do with him after the ride either. Guess his 'showin off' made him a double loser that day.

Knowing something is going to come by you that fast and not knowing about it until after the fact are two totally different scenarios.

Agreed!!!

Unsettling/scary -vs- terrifying /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

I had the good fortune to experience F-A at ten tenths. Thought up to that point (25-ish) I had the skill to DO that. T'wasn't skill wot wuz lackin'...

Found it took nads I ~didn't~ have. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif Whew. A major effort to repeatedly run consistent laps. At speeds up to 140 MPH. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif

It has been my experience that if you keep doing stupid stuff long enough...Ya kinda get used to it.

So far as talent goes...
Well that's another thing all together.

Some combination of the 2 makes me believe I should buy a faster race car /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/whistle.gif

Yep...I'm sure now /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/yesnod.gif

/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/lol.gif That's the odd part... I didn't WANT to get used to it.

What'cha got in mind? SportsRacer or open wheel? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif
