Some truth to that, I bought my TR3 finished and saved great gobs of dough.
I've done resto's and just wanted to upgrade/finish the car.
However, someone has to do the work to save cars that need major work and I'm glad I've done some and am pleased you guys are taking it on too.
Always very satisfying when done and you know the car inside out.
 
Just to make everyone feel better about our expenditures..
I've a friend and just visited his very fine resto shop, can't say who as I'm gonna talk numbers.
Numbers below are for as or better than new and only include parts labor and not the cars original purchase price.

MBz 220 SE cabriolet.....3 year resto cost $434,000.00
MBz 190sl.....18 month resto..$178,000.00

These fugures are the norm for high end as I went to a few diff shops doing the same/similar cars...
