How do you mount the rear license plate on a BE?

I am not planning on using the rear plinth on my Bugeye, but am instead planning to get a billet frame that has an LED light built in. Is there a license plate mounting plate made for the Bugeye that allows you to mount the license plate to the body? I guess I could make something up if I had to. Jim

No. License plate mounts directly to the body.

You could use one from a later Sprite. You'll have to drill a couple new holes in about the middle of the recess though. I think I would look for one of those generic plastic ones that will have holes in the right place to use the existing holes. You can usually find them in the local auto parts stores.

Or one like this. Top two bolts secure it to the body. Light is in the frame.

Mine already had 2 holes. I simply added a cheap frame. There are wing-nuts on the inside. Works well.

Bill, nice looking BE.

Forgot to add... I used "security screws" (the kind that only screw one way) so somebody can't swipe the plate with a simple screwdriver (given my special plate).

I have four bolts and one of the special frames.
