How do I take off rubber off rubber bumper

No responces elsewhere, so..

I am getting a replacement rubber bumper for the GT that is rust free. The one I took off of mine is eaten away. The rubber on the replacement apparently has some dings in it, while mine is great.
Question is, how can I remove the rubber cover off of mine and put it on the other one when I get it? It looks like small rivets, but I am not sure where they are attatched.
Thanks

Umm Paul, it's RUBBER, why wouldn't it be rustfree?

I'm pretty sure that it's all rivets - lots of em - and I bet they're not the usual cheap aluminum ones either. A diagram might help... Got an old Moss catalog handy? I can't find their diagram online anymore.

I thought you were busy putting a pillow over Chuck's head or somthing?

Nope, I'm working out a way for you to clean your tank. The pillow comes later when he starts snoring.

You didnt say wether it was front or rear bumper? If its rear, you remove the whole bumper, put it on something that wont scratch the good rubber, peal back the rubber onthe backside to expose the steel pop rivets, drill out all of them and pull the metal clamping plate off. Turn the bumper over and do the same to this side. be carefull not to bend the clamping plates or you will have to buy new ones, about $50.00 good luck this is time consuming.

Thank you rampant. Yes, it is the rear. You put it in words even I can understand. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
When I tried to peal it back the other day, it seemed like there was an adheasive on it as well, but I will try to tackle it this weekend again.

Much appreciated.

Paul
