how do I ID an MG transmission?

I bought a small lot of Triumph transmissions and parts and found one MG transmission in with the rest of the parts.

How can I tell what model this transmission this is? It has a sidecover and is a non-OD unit. It looks like it uses an hydraulic clutch set-up if that helps.

I'll post a picture tomorrow. Any help would be appreciated.
 
Photo would help - only 2 kinds: early 3-syncro & late 4-scncro...& differences in late 4-syncro is limited to filler.

This seems to have a filler hole on the top right side...

.625 pilot bearing diameter on the input shaft...
 
Is the side cover a rectangular shape or a trapezoidal with the fore and aft sides angled toward one-another?

Trapezoid, I believe.
 
That would make it a 3-synchro early one.

That is an early MGA trans with sliding spline drive shaft and low starter mount.

Matches engines series 15GA.

They went to a bolted shaft in the late 1500 production c. 1959.
