Speaking of "new Healey's" just got the word off the street that an area here in St Louis will be the staging point for a Belgian conglomerate buying up "barn finds" Austin Healey's. Their first shipment consists of 10 Healey's and is already being brought here. So if anyone is searching for a "resto" project you better act quick. Oh, the Belgians are going to restore all of them and resell back to USA.

Nah... not with exchange rates as they are.

What's likely to happen is the cars get sent east to be re-done more cheaply by the Poles and then re-sold to German and British buyers, and maybe a few others....

I repatriated mine nearly 5 years ago- it was cheaper buying an American project than a British one. And if it was too far gone I could have sold the bits and still made a slight profit (or loss)....

Actually, there's a guy from England who comes over from time to time buying MG's ffor return to the UK...parts, parts cars, restorable cars....a years or so ago, he was buying British motorcycles.....he won't buy anything that's been restored already.

I got the same kind of a story from my junk yard guy concerning Bugeyes. Some one came through several years ago and bought everything to be shiped to UK.

Kind of like the ads in the paper - "Looking for MG,Triumph,Austin Healey, etc."
Usually,it's someone wanting to buy (cheap),& resale
for a profit.
I wish these people would go away!

I'm not so sure... its a "service" they provide buying and selling, while I may not like the idea of their making profits when the original owners may get a pittance no one is forcing them to sell, or anyone to buy.

And if it were all that profitable there'd be more people doing it; or the owners would have that much more of an incentive to find their own buyers (or buyers search out the sellers) and cut these middlemen out....
