House Update

Gettin' close! Staining is almost done; floors are in, but wood is unfinished. Stone work is done on the chimney; hearth and inside work are in process. Plenty more to do, but it's looking like a house now!

Re: House Update

Now *that* is progress!

What's the view from that front deck?

Two Sheds Jackson!!!

Yeah, the little cabin with the red roof (where we are now) will be rented out. We're gettin' a bit weary of 395 sq. ft.!

Re: House Update

Just gorgeous.

Thanks, Paul. The framers and the trim guys did a fantastic job.

Thanks - pictures don't do it justice! Will post more when I can get in and get some decent ones.

Re: House Update

Good looking house! Enjoy.

Re: House Update

No way I'm showing that to my wife. She'll be there in an instant!

Re: House Update

I've been meaning to comment; that place looks great!

We were at our lakehouse today doing some Fall/Winter cleanup. Our place has some exposed wood beams, but nothing like that! Great job!

Wow, does that bring back fond memories of "Twosheds", a former BCF member.

Yeah, I knew John personally. He was a nice man and is missed.

Re: House Update

Thanks, all. I've gotten great insight into home construction from just watching; really glad we've been here to do that. I've done my share of handyman projects around the house for years, but of course nothing like this. The trim guys in particular have been very methodical and exacting in their work. It was really slow going, but the results are obvious.

Took this picture yesterday after the stone guy left when he finished up inside:

TV will be mounted above the mantel and all the audio equipment will go in the right-hand bookcase. (You can just see the bundle of wiring for all that just to the right of the stonework.) The tall narrow area on the right will house one of my tower speakers; other one will go to the left of the other bookcase.

The garage has been completed, but it's housing some of our stuff until the house is ready. Still have to build workbenches, put up shelving, etc., and decide what to do with the floor (and that depends on whether there's any budget left!). Probably won't start on any of that until after the house is done and we're moved in. A lot of that may have to wait until spring. But I'm still playing with ideas for that.

Re: House Update

Very nice, Mickey. What a lovely spot.

So when can I move in? :jester:
