day before yesterday we were woken by sirens that lasted for over 4 hours, ive been concerned about roof collapse since many of the homes here are of contemporary design calling for roof pitches to be rather shallow/flat and are now holding a great amound of snow and thought this or perhaps a car accident might have been the case since we didnt smell or see smoke, yesterday just three blocks from our house returning home from picking my wife up from her office we turned a corner and both noticed something didnt look/feel right when my wife said OMG!, there where once stood this great older wooden framed home we and many others admired and whose owners had over the last three years spent a fortune remodeling was nothing, the only way one could tell a house had ever been there was bits of stone foundation only inches above the ground, it was obvious the coflagration was tramendous and the brave fireman could only control the blaze from speading to other homes but stood no chance or hope of extingwishing. as of yet we dont know if anyone was injured or what could have been the reason for the fire but seeing this was a reminder that this can happen to anyone since three years ago we had a kitchen fire in our own home, everyone please watch your electric space heaters, fireplaces, oil burners, stoves, etc.
