Does anyone have any experience with plug heat ranges for a 73 Midget 1275? I have a Bosch book and 3 choices. I am using the cold one, but have some fouling on the 2 centre plugs. Valve guides are poor. I plan spring trip for about 2 days of driving and don't want to foul out on the trip and thought about going up one heat range to test the theory.

Sushi, your theory is sound.However,the heat range required depends on the type of driving you do. It appears that the current plugs and your driving style signal a too cold plug. I think a one step up will be about right if the new plugs do not foul.During the long drive they will perform even better.---FWIW--Keoke
 
Go hotter, and try NGKs. (BP5ES) Carry a spare set of plugs on the trip too. You can change them on a 1275 while you are getting gas.

Sushi, get a speed wrench and you will be amazed at how fast you can change plugs and it will help in not overtightening. Wayne
