The famous Reno Hot August Nights is opening a new venue here in South Lake Tahoe. It will be held July 30th to August 1st. Auction and car show and poker run are on the schedule. This will be the first time here.
There is also new auction in Reno on May 15 and 16. Free admission and about 300 rods and classic cars for sale. For more info go to: https://www.hotaugustnights.net/ then select "Spring Fever Car Auction" from the right side under Hot News. Or you can contact B&T Custom Rod at: https://www.btcustomrod.com/events.htm and click on the Spring Fever Auction link at the bottom or call them at 877-876-9080.
B&T are the guys who are currently painting my Healey. I drool when I visit. They have many old Packards and Nomads and a'20's Buick, 56 T-bird and many more fabulous classics and hot rods. I hope my BJ8 comes out half as good as what I see they have finished.

Hey TH,

How's about starting new post, photos of my painting progress at B&T.
Include things like, this is what they will do. (Remove brightwork, windscreen, repair rust, etc) Maybe include how much they charge to do it, for a reference for others getting ready to paint their Healey.

Photos showing what they found under your paint. If anything.
How they corrected it.
Did that change the original paint price. Stuff like that.

Are they keeping to the time line/price they told you.

I trust your painting situation is going smoothly, on schedule and you'll be getting it back soon.
When will it be back in your garage?

Cheers!

Roger, everything is going on schedule. Their schedule. They had a number of cars damaged in the Russo-Steele action in Scotsdale. We are running 2 weeks late. Ok with me because of the changing weather here. The car was actually in great shape under all the paint. Very little bondo. They are doing 3 primers and taking it down to one. They color speckled the primer to insure perfect block sanding. They will be applying three coats on paint and then 3 coats of clear.
I gave them a dozen pieces of chrome that they charged me their cost on ($325.00). I could not believe the results. I figured they mess up the boot hings so I bought replacements. They are beautiful! (any one interested in the repo's I bought?)
They are treating the car as if it is their own. In fact the lady doing the block sanding and straightening says its hers until the painter (her husband) gets it but she inspects his wo. And it ain't done 'till she"s happy. She has already approved the body tinkerers work and and the welders filling some holes the PO put in for more Tenex fasteners.
I am collecting pictures. They send me progress pictures and I've gone there a few times. But I get distracted by all the other cars they are doing. I've got lots of photos of 57 Cheveys, Packards etc. They even did a Plymouth Fury that was beautiful but I had to ask "why".
Money is WAY over my budget but not for what I'm getting. And that is with me taking off all the chrome. They actually found no rust but surface bondo that had to be removed or they would not do the work and lifetime guarantee it. I would be embarrassed to tell how much.
Roger, you know me and my anal approach to originality but when I saw what paint could look like melted. The color is very close to the original ivory but with out the ash grey of the original. Just creamer. Warmer looking. And the clear coat is not original but much more durable.
Their finish date is mid March. Then I have 10 days fo putting things back together (I figure 3 time the dismantle time. I am trying to have it ready for Woodland, CA show. We will be at the Organ show also.
