turbo This might be the ticket. Said it came off of a 1380 mini van. That carb looks like the traditional mini setup, but I am not a turbo person. I wonder if there would be more to be done for this to work like maybe cam and electrical timing issues.

Someone else was discussing this one, maybe over on the MG side? Too much power for me, I have to deal with my 87 mph paper as it is...

Kim, you'd have a lot of fabrication to do to get that to fit in the engine bay of a Spridget.
Would be fun, though.

I got the coolest thing in the mail, a notice that I could take a 1 year deferral of the thing and if I was a good boy it would never appear on my record.
I suppose this is due to having nothing at all on my record for over twenty years. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

cool - How about I keep the car for the next year - then you won't be tempted

It will be curious to see how much it goes for. Pretty neat.

It doesn't look like it will foul the steering column of a Sprite. Fabricating an exhaust pipe will be one job, making everything work together is another. Compression MUST be lower, 7.5:1 works well with pump gas. Timing needs retard or some clever to dial in retard with boost (MSD6BTM ignition, Megasquirt, etc.) or prepare to always run a bit retarded and rich. If you don't have the hardened axles or a 5-speed with Datsum clutch, you may find another weak link or two when you add this much HP.
That said, this will take a mild overbore (0.040 or so) and totally kick the poop out of a conventionally aspirated 1380, give loads of fun on the street, and get pretty good mileage.
Unlike my setup, the Metro turbo is limited to about 6-8lbs of boost since the Leyland engineers figured that this was all the trannys could handle. This is discussed pretty well in the Vizard "Bible".
