Need to replace original horn relay and noticed that for about the same price (Lucas from Moss; but B/O), a new set of horns (Hella) can be purchased with relay. Anyone have experience or thoughts on conversion?

If you’re sure it’s only the relay, you can pick up a 12v relay for about $5. Not an “original” but it will get the job done.

Thx. Getting a clicking when button is pushed. Ran a hot lead directly to the battery and horn works. Will try cleaning. Perhaps NAPA has a relay.

If you hear a "click" that means that the relay coil is being energized and working. Since you are not getting power to the horns, try removing the leads from the relay and reinstall to make sure the connection is being made. If that fails, you might do as poorboy suggested and open the really and clean the contacts internally.

At the relay the purple wire with the yellow stripe is supposed to supply voltage to the actual horns when you hear the relay 'click'
Do you have 12 volts or does your test lamp light up at that spot when the relay 'clicks' ?

Have 12V coming into the relay. Pulled and opened the relay. It’s clean as are the contact terminals.
Retested horn on direct lead to battery and ok.
Could it be a short in the horn switch? I’m loosing 3V somewhere. If not, guess it has to be the relay.

You should have a full 12 volts from the solid purple wire going in to the relay and 12 going out to the horns from the purple/yellow.
I doubt id you have a short..that would have blown the fuse that protects the purple wire circuits.
You may have a bad ground...that starts at the horn button and runs down the steering column to the steering rack and on to the ground tab behind the front valance.

You've found the problem: it's the horn-relay contacts. They may look good but still be bad. Just clean them anyway or replace the relay.
