CT55091. Early TR4A. The wiring harness does not seem to have a provision for a relay. The manual does not show one. The Dan Masters wiring diagrams does show a relay for the 4A but not the 4. What's the deal? I wired it up without the relay and it seemed to work fine. It's fused soI don't really worry about too much current. I've got a MotoLita steering wheel that seems to have a more robust grounding contact than the original carbon brush setup
I've noticed in other areas, this car is a mashup of TR4 and TR4A parts

With the commission number that you show I would assume that you have a solid axle TR4A. If the commssion number started with CTC instead of only the CT it would be a IRS car. Very often these days one can find cars that are a compilation of many cars. I have seen such myself of an interesting mix of TR4 and TR4A parts on one car. It turned out to be a TR4 with numerous 4A parts. Without an explanation form a previous owner one just has to learn what they have and work with the corresponding manuals.

Right. Solid axle. Originally without overdrive which I fitted from a donor. As far as the original owner, a rusty old barn find which I bought it from the widow who had no idea of the history.
