HI all... horn quit working awhile back and had a look at the two horns.. One had been replaced recently it looks like and I believe was working and the other was original. When I went to check the connection on the old one the male end on the horn broke off. I assumed it was that and put a new horn in tonight.. Well that didn't work. I check my book and it tells me that the fuse that the horn is connected also works the glove box light and that is working.. so I am assuming the power is there at this point. My guess is that it is the relay but I couldn't find it for the life of me..Can someone point me in the right direction or any other thoughts on what could be causing this problem...Thanks....

check the earth. Mine has broken off a few times from vibration etc. My horn earth is grounded thru the steering rack.

the horn relay will have purple wires feeding it, purple\brown, purple\black and purple yellow. I'm not sure of the location on a TR6 but you should be able to progess from there.

I had a similar problem a while back -- my low note horn never worked. I was feeling particularly industrious one day and removed it to try it on my battery charger to see if I had a wiring problem or something inside the horn. Well, lo and behold, it worked on the charger, but I discovered that years of gunk had built up on the male blade and inside the female side of the connector as well. I spent some quality time with some emory paper, reinstalled the horn and it worked perfectly -- until one of the male connectors broke off a few weeks ago. I'll have to wait for another surge of industriousness to fix it again. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
 
Thanks guys... I will try and locate the wiring as outlined and go from there.. I haven't tried to clean the connections however that will be a starting point I guess...
Anyone know where the relay is on a TR6??
