Was going to contiue a post I started awhile back but I cannot find it. This is a picture of Docs steering wheel and here is my reproducition piece. I made it at work. I'd say it looks pretty darn close to the original. The black acrylic surround is cracked & I glued it together so you can still see the cracks. I will be trying to make a new one of these also. Underneath there is a small brass piece that makes the horn operate. This was also missing and I turned a new one out of brass on my lathe.

I've got horn.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif Good job! When do the repro pieces hit market? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well done. I like it.

I made these Specials Badges also. I have already sold 3 sets of 3 for good $$$.

The key fob was an extra little thing I threw in for meself.

Man, you are talanted. Wish I could do that.

Now if I only had all the pieces that went with that '67 GT tag!

You could get a few, slap them on & pretend. When a few guys in my club saw them, they went nuts. Ther is a guy with a special like mine in Red and he bought a set of three. Another guy has a 74 cbGT and he wants them for some reason and I met someone online that is intersted. I modeled them after an email pic from Ken Smith. He was the one who told me about tehe specials.

Nice work Vince! Glad it worked out.

Hey Doc! Good to hear from ya. I think you needed something along these lines. What was it and can I help you out?

Mine is intact (I'm the original owner of the wheel /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif )

I've a pal with a '67 and an aftermarket wheel we're MacGyverin' to work with an original horn push. No hurry as his windshield and a LOT of other things need installing first.

In case you didn't know, that horn push is not stock. It's a period Nardi aftermarket item. I have one on my '65. They are getting really hard to find.

The ones Vince and I have are "Personal" Nardi's. Part of the "GT/Special" kits the dealers installed on some GT's in '67(?). The wheel on the friend's '67 is "odd"... some aftermarket. The original wheel horn push assembly actually fits into it (kinda) and looks official enough. I may drill/tap it as per the original spoked wheel.

S'funny: I never thought those wheels would become as scarce as they are. I got mine for $35 back-when. Go figger.

Wow, nice interior.

Vping, Wow, nice work... Ron /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
