The American Idol and sports schedules I think.

It's not just "these days". I was in school from the 70s-80s and we barely talked about any American history. We spent an entire quarter/semester in 6th grade talking about Thailand though.

MMmmkay. Enough.

hmm... I was LIVING in Thailand in the '70's.

As for the JayWalking vid, it scares th' carp outta me.

I guess I was Lucky. Dad being in the Army, I attended a DoDDS school in Germany through much of my formative years. American history, civics, etc, were big parts of our curriculum

Good for you. I was in Virginia. Don't ask me what I learned about US or Virginia history in school though.

Next week I'm going to be "The Walrus"

I am just embarrassed. Nothing else to say

doc, my sons to be wife is a sixth grade teacher and a very good one, when i showed her the jay walking videos all she said was "this is what happens when parents will now sue the school if you as much as raise your voice at thier kids", in the sixtys i grew up with one older brother, one younger brother and a younger sister, at the beginning of each school year my father would give verbal permission along with a signed statement allowing our teachers to use "any" method they thought effective in getting and keeping our attention, o.k. i admit i was the one that required more of the "attention", today all one has to do is go to your local grocery store and observe the unbridled behavior of some of these kids and the lack of corrective instruction from thier parents, it becomes obvious we are living in a different world. one day i asked a 24 year old working for me if hed seen the british women (whom we knew) get out of her car, he responded "shes not british shes from england". true story. :yesnod:

The most "truthful" thing I remember about history taught in VA schools back in the sixties was that at the end of the civil war, Gen. Lee didn't really surrender, he just gave his sword to Gen. Grant for sharpening.

True story, they say . . .
