Are these lumps we insist on perpetuating gonna be wortha whit in 2013???

..Not that I care, it's a rhetorical query. :smirk:

Consider it an "unscientfic poll" of sorts.

I've been busy, and am out of touch. What's significant about 2013, is this just an arbitrary date or are the Jetson's cars finally due to arrive?

2013 instead of 2012? That's something good I suppose!

<jumps on eBay, Craigslist, et.al. and begins buying ALL the stone knives and bear skins he can find!! (Knows Doc will get that one! )>

The only cars we own work on POINTS or compression combustion. Mebbe the LBC's will be worth MORE after THE solar event!

Will this put an end to the aluminum hat industry?

silentunicorn, judging from the temps here in ct. the last couple of days i dont think its going to take that long.

Record temps up here too. Of course i picked this week to re roof my shed/garage. It used to be shingled. I stripped them and brought out the overhangs some. just some putter work left now, soppets/fascia and trim stuff. But now it can rain and i dont care.

get spare coils, condensor maybe, and create a faraday cage for storage. Old cars are gonna rule... again

doc

kiddin' aside for a moment. before I retired, I wrote a white paper on solar flares and large utility transformer failures. repair of the big ones, 100mva+ can take up to a year and no one buys spares anymore.

keep watch with NOAA. They have a vg solar flare prediction algorithm.

If we take a big hit nationwide, the grid will likely go unstable and island-ize. hope not :nonod:

I *know* it, Frank. I'm only ~half~ joking.

Guys, have y'all forgotten this is a moot point as the world ended w/ Y2K?!?!?!?

"Space weather Katrina", .....I got ya covered !!!!!

I'll never be caught with me knickers down again.

Quite the contray, record sales are to be expected prior to the event.

Wow, Mark. I been toying with the idea of a metal lid for th' hovel. The termites here are brutally voracious. You 6/12 guys impress me too... all we have to worry about here is th' roof turnin' into a Frisbee in a strong blow. No snow loads, so its 3/12 as the common pitch.

Won't that be like wearing the top half of an electric chair?

Oh yeah, you just can't fix stupid.

Metal is a good choice, Doc. Built my shop out of recycled metal, 18 ga studs, 20 ga walls, 18 ga roof. Pleasant sound in the rain, not so much when it hails.
