Hood [Bonnet] release question

The problem with DIY is that you know if you didn't do it right.

My hands are still scabbed from putting in the hood release cable AFTER the engine/ grille. But I know it's not correct, so, I have to do it right.

Can anyone explain - or better yet, post pics of how it snakes through the engine compartment, especially where it attaches near the firewall and how it gets into the rad bracket?

thanks

I just fixed mine the other day. My camera takes pic that are to big to post.
But, the cable is held to the inner fender directly behind the left wheel above the shock. There is a cable clamp that holds it there. The cable then goes to the front of the car and passes through the grommet in front of the brass rad overflow tank. There it turns into the centre of the car.
I have no other attach points, the cable comes out of the tranny tunnel and just curves under the carbs to the attach point I mentioned.

The position of the cable in the clamp is important and the clamp must hold the cable tight. If you get it wrong a 16 inch length of wood or a long screw driver can pass through the grill, and then catch and lever down the cable to pull the release.
