Hi,

Can anyone tell me where the small tube, as marked in the red oval, is for?
And does anyone have some detailed pictures how to mount the hood spring on the floor? (what components do I need for this)

Thanks in advance for your reaction.

It's for the curved tubes that support the full tonneau cover when the top is stowed. The tubes were original equipment for cars that had the optional tonneau cover. The sockets for the tubes are on all BJ8s whether they got a tonneau cover or not.

The convertible top helper springs attach at the bottom to a triangular plate welded to the floor behind the upholstery trim panel and at the top to a hole in the top frame. The springs are relaxed when the top is up, therefore it's easier to install them with the top up.
