Honest, I didn't steal that car.............

A short while after I purchased my 1960 Triumph TR3A (TS63684L) from a dealer in Missouri , I became associated with the BCF on a fairly regular basis. (this forum has been a great technical help and confidence builder for a wanna-be old car guy like me, BTW)
However, one day I received a message from Bo Bogaty, through the forum private message service.
Though I can't remember exactly what was said....I do recall getting a litttttle nervous.
As Bo shared the fact that TS63684L was his car..................back in 1962.

Turns out he spotted the VIN # on my profile and put two & two together.
I personally found it amazing he recalled the VIN after all this time, but he had actually tracked 63684L over the years more than once.

Bo was the second owner & bought the car in 62 when it was Nassau Blue(the OO didn't like the original color). But it actually left Coventry as a powder blue/dark blue model. (and by fluke or design, that is the color scheme of Bo's current Concours d'Elegance grade TR3A [see pic].)
While the original Bogaty car, living in my garage, is now Black/Black and a daily driver, it's nice to know her roots.

It has certainly added an interesting dimension to being an "old car guy" by connecting with the previous owner, of back in the day.............small TR world.

That is a great story. I'd love to know how my '69 Sprite spent much of its 46 years. I only know the beginning, thanks to the Heritage Certificate, and the previous two owners: Longbridgehealey and the college student he bought the Sprite from, although I haven't had any direct contact with the student. I'm guessing he either bought another LBC once he got out in the "real world", or perhaps one day, may go looking for his car.

The story was that the student found this car while at school in Pennsylvania (probably Lehigh or Bucknell), and when his parents sent him money for living expenses, he was putting it into the Sprite. When the parents found out, they made him sell the car. That's when Larry bought the car and brought it to Maryland to drive while they were restoring their '59 BE. When the restoration was done, so was their need for the '69, and that's where I came into the picture.

Wonderful accounting. Sure must have made your day.
