Learned my lesson from the last engine that was freshly rebuilt and pointed the exhaust out of the garage and not towards it.

First engine I've ever built completely on my own and she fired up on the 5th crank and settled into a high idle with 75psi of oil pressure, no visible leaks or strange noises and huge plum of smoke filling up the parking lot. Did a quick rough timing and she settled into a slightly rich idle at 850.

Can't wait till tomorrow when I can finish up a few nagging items and take her back out on the road.

I'm so stoked all the work seems to be worth it.

Thanks again Tony for getting that part out so quick.

WOW!! It left here yesterday right before noon & you actually got it before noon today!!!

Got it at 10:45 on the car at 3pm. Would of been a lot sooner but the union would not come out of the old filter head without a serious fight. Thank god for propane torches and impact guns.

and: Yup! All the work ~IS~ worth it. Now you KNOW it ain't magic.

HERE HERE, way to go!! I'll be trying the same "magic" over the winter. Hope I'm as successful as you.
Congrats, Mike

Grrrrrr

Went to start it up and the starter hung after it started and now it just clicks. I guess its out with the new and back in with the old and time to order a starter from hap.
