Same issue here. They all figger if they hire ya and in six months things start to improve, you'll jump on the first "better offer"...

You'd THINK they'd leap at a chance to get someone who's got Eurotrash experience at a bargain, even if it DID only last for a year or so.

People are weird, tho. :shrug:

I kinda think there's a "gray ceiling" at work here in my case, too...
or a "bald" ceiling. :jester:

We're back into "light drizzle" again. Oughta be at your area in half an hour or so.

WHOOPS... Boom-n-thump started back up again. Just looked at radar, this thing appears to be in shear right over us. Movin' north-east. May be a WHILE before it goes past. Rats.

As far as "job security" goes... there's no such thing in Corporate environments. I was the ONLY person that did my job and there was plenty to keep busy with and work OT everyday if I wanted to... but they canned me anyway...

I've heard the: "Everybody's replaceable" speech too many times, too.
Now it's countered with: "Yeah, all ya need is a body at 98.6*F and H.R. is seen to have done THEIR job. It's experience and ability where you'll have the problem."
 
yeah where I work it's not who you know but who your related to!!!

If your related to a office person than you got no worries but if your just Joe Blow off the street your job can end at any moment.

and seeing as I work in FL you don't have to have a reason to fire anyone and the nice LLC at the end of the companies name means you can't even do anything if you do get fired for no reason

liljohn- yeah, the tat stops about 2" short of my wrist. The artist that did it really is an artist that just move from pen and paper to needle ink and skin.


doc- I've never heard the body temp bit, but from seeing the goons that have been hired as "executives" in the corporate environment, that sounds about right to me, and the icing on the cake is seeing "Technical Directors" that can't perform tasks that should be a given for their position get to keep their job... I guess all it takes to get into one of those types of positions is being able to convincingly bs your way through the interviews.
 
I figure I can be insecure all by myself. No need to have an "employer" involved. Some days I fire myself, some days I just get laid off... it all pays th' same. :smirk:
