HO Trains

Herpa makes a nice HO (1:87) scale TR3B although they refer to it as a TR3A with wire wheels. I have one in White with Black interior to match Fagin. Only difference is they added a luggage rack which looks to heavy. There are a bunch of XKE's and Minis available in HO as well. Check out the Walther's Website for more items. Most local hobby shops will not carry all these items, but Walthers is normally pretty quick in shipping in stock items.

I also must say that the semi annual train shows here in Allentown are packed with dealers and buyers. The hobby is not cheap, but there are more and more items that are available.

HO... HO!? Yo, G! Make a display that will draw the crowds!

Somewhere around here I've got boxes of that stuff. I'm amazed at how far they've come with controlling them. No more fancy switching out parts of tracks, reversing them to keep the trains going forward, etc... Neat

True - the new controls are amazing. I changed over to DCC (digital) about a year ago and am hooked on it - the wiring is far simpler, you can easily run multiple locos, and you get ~~sound!~~.

I recently tore my layout apart and started over. I really like building structures and the previous layout reflected that but the new controls are so cool that I decided to redo everything with "just running trains" in mind.

Looks like Tony's progressing quickly!

Were your old buildings HO?

Yeah but I don't think I have any buildings anywhere, unless I have a kit or two left (which I doubt). I had a box of track but I had a bunch of cars and engines. Heck...now that the subject came up I don't know where any of that stuff is, I haven't seen it since Virginia.

What'cha gonna do with the old stuff you're no longer using?

I probably wasn't clear - both the old & new layouts were/are HO scale, so I'll use the same buildings.

I posted some photos here several years ago but I think they're long gone...

Btw, Walthers sells a decent MG-TC in HO.

I even bought their own trains that stayed at grandpa's house. Of course ours are G scale and we do run out doors.

Before they went bankrupt/into receivership I bought my son an LGB setup. He loves it.

Father in law has a garden railroad with several hundred feet of track; tunnels; mountains. My 10 year old runs the DCC controller (via a wireless phone) for a pair of locomotives. We love trains.

I only got the main figure 8 operational but it didn't matter to him ....here's a photo of Will who came equipped with his own personally embroidered engineer's cap...at the end of the day when he went down for the night, he'd spent most of the day around that table & not one train was in the same place...if a track didn't work, he pushed trains along it like he does his little Thomas tains....& it didn't take him long to figure out how to hook the HO cars together or take them apart...he even worked the controls....2-1/2 years old & the kid's hooked!
