Hmmmmmm Hmmmmmmmm

Nice pictures. I took a bunch one year and got a few good ones. I have stopped putting out the hummingbird feeder. I have enough flowers for them. I do feed the birds all year round. Now I have two turkeys that practically live in my yard. Cute but they make a mess.

Not birds, but yesterday I had a red tail fox run through my backyard.
OK, now back to birds.

I bought the feeder specifically so I could get some good pictures. We, too, feed the birds (in fact our place is practically a wildlife preserve LOL). By the way, as best I can tell, I think these were female Anna's Hummingbirds.

Lots of hummers here... and we maintain 3 feeders. Too bad ours (Anna's) are so territorial, otherwise there would be plenty of food for all.
Here's a shot I took on a snowy December day. Yeah, we no longer use any of the red food.~

I was amazed at how fast they appeared after I hung the feeder! Within 2 minutes of hanging it there were hummers using it! We have other feeders out in the yard, but they are in the trees and not good locations for taking good pictures.

My hummers have gone for the season. They are amazing little guys. But - only one at a time at the feeder. If another one shows up, there's an instant aerial duel. The females are the worst. I had to put up another feeder to keep the peace but it was too late in the season and they're all gone South until next May. They can fly backwards, sideways, even upside down. A food source is crucial to them. They can starve to death in a day or so they burn so much energy just flying around. That's why they protect their turf. Southern California and Arizona are the best places to see a variety of hummingbirds in the US. We only have one kind up here in the Northeast - the Ruby-Throat.

From the title of thread, I thought it was about Mazdas.

Gotta run down to Costco today and pick up another 10lb bag of sugar.

We have four 32oz feeders out and they're draining one or two of them every day.

Mine are still around and like I said I don't feed them. I have enough flowers that they seem to do fine.

We also have a strong appreciation for animals. We have 11 deer, so far, that we see all the time on our property and have two little ones that come up very close to the house. Yesterday the wife had me go to the feed mill and get 50lbs of corn for the deer, for a treat. Things I don't do to keep her happy. Yes, we have humming bird feeders hanging around also. :applause: PJ

I'm currently on holiday in Mexico, on the Yucatan peninsula just north of Tulum. I was hoping to see some hummers but no luck so far. We have a room on the third floor overlooking a large tree and mangroves. So far seen about a dozen bird species (and a monkey and several other mammals) but I have left my Mexican bird book at home (doh!) So haven't identified most of them. Hopefully the dozens of photos we have taken will be good enough to help.
