Hitachi Drill Press

No experience personally, but it appears to be comparable with most of the bench top drill presses on the market these days. It does have the gear driven table adjustment, but I personally prefer the clamp type as it's easier to swing to the side if needed. Definitely a drill press is a good investment for your shop and at this price I don't see how you would be disappointed. Mine is almost 25 years old now and still going strong. The killer for these inexpensive tools is applying side loads to the drill shaft, the bushings won't take that type loading well and the shaft will start to wobble. Use it for what it was intended, drilling, leave the sanding and milling work to other tools.

I bought a used Hitachi slide miter saw years ago and it broke after only 10 years of abuse. Expensive but worth it.

My drill press is 60 years old and works better than any of the cheaper new ones. Got it for $100 and restored it over a weekend. I will have this tool for the rest of my life, and so will the next owner. Consider an old American-built unit. They simply don't wear out!

I've had a Hitachi circular saw for about 15 years. It has always done the job I asked of it, including some precision miter cuts for some speakers I made. Oh, I'm still using the original blade too. Not sure which brand that is though.
