I had the distinct honour of meeting Sir Edmund when he gave a lecture to us in college back in the sixties. What a fascinating man! In the history books he will always be the first to have conquered Everest (of course along with Tensing, who got him there!).

And I paraphrase --- "Here I am walking down the street in my old faded overalls,with the seat torn etc., Looks like I'll have to get a new pair of overalls."
