TR2/3/3A Hi torque starter TR3

I have a hi torque starter that I bought from BPNW. I think that the pinion went out on it. (I bought a new one) the old one is at the starter rebuild shop, He is having a time trying to figure out what starter was used. Does any body have any idea what starter BPNW used (their supplier) or how to find the info?
 
all i've seen are Nippon Denso as fitted to Toyota Corolla,Supra,Honda,Izuzu and many other japanese makes of mid 80's on up. available in two sizes 1.2 and 1.5 hp. If my memory serves me correctly, Triumph TR3 (late) tr4 and tr6 use a 9 tooth pinion gear? could be mistaken here as s/o says my memory is like her vacuum cleaner.............it sucks!

I believe 9 teeth is for the TR2 through early TR3A with the press-on ring gear. At TS50000 it goes to 10 teeth (and a bolt-on ring gear).

Assuming of course that someone hasn't swapped engines and/or flywheels. Look for the ring gear bolts through the starter hole before you install the new starter, as a mismatch may appear to work at first but will soon fail.
