Hi there, from Iowa

As of last Thursday, I am the owner of a 1966 AH Sprite. I had driven a 66 Midget the week before and decided I needed one of my own. So, I hit the evil money stealing site, ebay, and found a Sprite in southern Iowa.

It hadn't been driven in 20 years...
This is what it looked like in the ebay ad:

I spent most of last weekend going through the car with someone much more knowledgable than myself fixing anything that would prevent it from starting. I changed the oil, transmission oil, rear-end oil, coolant, and a non-working fuel pump. So after a 20 year rest, she's back to life and driving down the road. The electrical system is screwed up, and I haven't gotten into that yet. It's original positive ground though, which is good.

This is what she looks like as of yesterday:

And finally a video of me pulling out onto the highway!

So, I have a feeling this board is going to become my temporary support network until I become much more familiar with these cars. I can't wait to drive it to work every day. I'm not much on the restoring, so much as I am on the driving. I'm impatient like that! The plan is to try and crunch the work and get it roadworthy by Saturday so I can drive it to a British car show 40 miles south of my home /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Luke:

Welcome to the forum, sounds like great news, they make fun daily drivers.

It is nice to have another spridget forum member, we have a very active and diverse crowd, which I am sure you will fit right in with.

Luke..welcome to the forum..I'm over the river and a half jump from you in Fremont, NE. Put my "62" next to yours and the only way we'd know the difference is mine has no door handles..funny how security became an issue between 1962 and 1966...looking forward to your posts.

Luke:

That is funny, I have a mechanic at Meineke named Austin, he does the work on my Jeep. But he did help me install a panhard bar, so we always refer to my car as his /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif hehe.

Hi Luke
Welcome to the forum - looks like you made a great find. Enjoyed the video - looks like your having fun. You'll find the forum as a great place for info on your car (and maybe somewhat addictive)
If you have a daughter, name her 'Sprite'

Hi There Luke;

I was just passing thru and would like to bid you a "Welcome" to one of the Most Fun and Informative Forums on this planet or any other planet for that matter:

Welcome from the Pocono Mtns of PA: That`s NE PA:

Regards, Russ

Hi Luke. Welcome!

I have great respect for those folks who spend their time restoring a car to perfection.....but like you, I am more of a "driver" and am happy to drive a less-than-perfect car (as long as safety items are OK).

Great to have another Spridget on board!

I saw that one on ebay. It looked a little rough, but I'm glad to see it's gone to a good home.

Good going, getting it driving, like after 20 years, that's OK.

I can hear it missing on one cylinder, and there's a bit of panel rust, but that's half the fun. The other half is driving it. It sure looks good now, better than it did at first. Lots of elbow grease.

Congratulations, and welcome to the forum.
