Hello All,

I'm new to forums so forgive me if im asking the question in the incorrect location.

I'm trying to find some help, I'm not too internet savvy, hence why I joined a forum.

There is a van thats been on our street for nearly a year now, I'd like to find the owner. It has flat tyres and is rusting.

Someone said to check if it's insured as it's likely not, then the police will remove it. However, I'm unsure on how to. I was given the details of a website, Ask Mi I think. However I'm too old to figure all this stuff out.

It wouldn't be too much of a bother if it wasn't partly blocking a dropped curb. There are a few disabled and elderly people on our street, so it makes ot tricky for people.

The registration mark is DY07 SFU.

Is anyone able to offer any help?

Sincerly
M

Hi Mary - I'm not in the UK, but I think first thing to do is to report the van to your local police constabulary. You're in Dorset, so telephone the non-emergency number 101. That's a general purpose "help" number. Tell them the van is blocking the handicap access ramp.

If you already have a local police telephone number, use that.

Based on the registration number, the van is a 2007 Vauxhall VIVARO.

I hope this is helpful.

In California, It's illegal to have any vehicle on the street stationary for more than 72 hours.
A call to the local police will bring them out to mark their tires and check back in three days.
If it has not moved, they will have it towed to the impound lot.
We had one parked across the street from our house for many months.
One of our neighbors started complaining to ME, like I was responsible.
I called the cops and it was gone in a few days.

Hi Tom, thank you for your response.

I did send an email to the local police station, but as I didn't have much information to go on, except it is a van, I feel it has fallen on deaf ears.

I've confirmed and apparently Askmid is the UK website where you can enter the registration of a vehicle. It then says if it is insured or not.

I went onto Bing but I but couldn't figure out the website, the search continues.

P.S I've always wanted to visit Connecticut, sadly my knees might not get me their nowadays. Getting old isn't fun, another day, another ache.

Googled it for you and....

Hi Mary - I'd really recommend you telephone the police. Email is easy to overlook, especially if they may be getting hundreds of emails each day.

Give them a call and report the vehicle is not insured, and is blocking a handicap access point.

Best wishes from Connecticut!
