Hello everyone,

I am Nalinda Fernando, from Sri Lanka. A mechanical engineer by profession with an interest in all things mechanical and some that aren't. At present, own a 1996 Classic Mini with EFI, another Classic Mini 1972 ? and a 1987 Land Rover 90 diesel short wheel base station wagon.

My earliest recollection of an Austin was my Grandad's Austin A30 (1952 I think). Thereafter my dad had a 1959 Singer Gazelle which I learnt to drive in and got my licence. We also had a 1965 Morris Mini 850 with the Mk1 body for a short time.

I had a 1961 Morris Minor 4 door for a short time another 2 door 1958 ? purchased for parts. They are gone now.

Will share photos of my present acquisitions later.

Look forward to sharing knowlege and information on all classic cars.

Cheers

Nalinda

welcome, you may be the first from Sri Lanka - would love to see pictures, they sound like great cars!

Welcome to Nalinda! As JP said, I think you may be our first member from Sri Lanka! (If you know any other British car enthusiasts there, please do tell them about our forum).

Thanks JP, Basil, David and Tom

Didn't know I was the first from Sri Lanka :giggle: Are you guys in Canada or the US ? I will get my fellow enthusiasts to join the forum. We have a page on FB where we feature classics. This is the link > The Garage and Store | Facebook . If you have time perhaps you might visit and leave feedback on how to improve it.

As you may know we were under the British rule for more than 150 years and there are a few Brit classics still on the road. There are actually two places down south who make panels and body parts for Morris Minors.

Photos of my Mini

It's a 1996 EFI. Other than the engine (EFI) it's still evocative of the original Mk1. A limited edition called the Tartan version due to the cloth upholstery. Supposedly only 1,000 had been made and around 500 had been for Japan. It's a right hand drive because it's the right way to drive ๐Ÿ˜
