Hi there,

We, Sandra my wife and I, have had our 74 CB MGB GT since May 2014 and loving it.

I have installed new front and rear shocks, bilstein kits made and sold locally, as well as a 7/8 anti roll bar.

The car is running great now with regular servicing by myself. It helps that it is a high compression 18V motor and it sill has pleanty of go in it.

However, it would be nice to give it a complete strip down and clean up the body with a new paint job and spruce up the motor. When funds come available that will happen (any donations greatfully accepted:wink-new:smile:.

Kia ora Gokart,

Although I doubt you will be receiving many financial donations, I expect that you will receive answers to any questions that you post on this site. You will find that this is a very well informed group regarding all things LBC. Be sure to post on the MG forum here as well, and we love to see photos of members cars, and I will especially enjoy them with your lovely country as a back drop. Eat a Fergburger for me.

Enjoy the ride.

Welcome, Rob! Sounds like most of your want list concerns cosmetics, so funding shouldn't be too hard on you. Plus, you can enjoy the GT as you go!

Please post pictures of your GT and any questions and comments on the MG side of the forum. Glad to have you aboard!

Mickey

Hello, and welcome to the Forum!

Welcome Rob! Just curious, what's a "CB" MGB-GT?

Is there an active MG club in New Zealand? I'd be pretty sure that there is, and if there is, please tell us a little bit about its activities.

Glad to have you aboard!

CB = Chrome Bumper. Thought I better define as we all know 74 was the last year for CB's and they (BL) changed to the RB's half way through the year.

Some photos as requested. The last one is of a super car next to a supercar. Perhaps that could become a thread challenge, photos of our common super cars next to or with a supercar.

love the license number! Do they have personalized plates in NZ or is it a "cherished plate" like the UK?

A personalised plate I bought some time before I got the MG due to a nickname .

Welcome Rob. Nice MG. You have a wonderful place to enjoy your ride. I drove through Palmerston North on the way to Welly.

Glad you enjoyed it, I always do esp in the GT.

Your TR certainly looks very nice Elliot.

Reid, sorry I missed a question you asked about clubs.Yes there is a very good MG club in New Zealand with affiliated clubs in most larger centers, We are members of MG Manawatu (Manawatu being the region Palmerston North is in). We also belong to the Hawkes Bay British and European Car Club and go for runs through to the east coast for their events also.
