Wendy and the younsters are out going to listen to
a evening of Christmas Musical and then some wine and grub..

The Old Man is home a bit ill but enjoying the homemade
chicken/platano soup granny sent over this afternoon.

Nothing is a better cure-all than "Granny made" chicken soup.
And chicken/plantain/garlic soup will kill off all evil
voodoo spirits.

So it's a bowl of Granny's soup and a shot of Coquito
with DonQ for Tinster.

What's cooking up yer way!!

I thought voodoo was one island over in Haiti.
 
Turkey soup, made with the broth we got when we cooked down the "remains" of the FOUR turkeys I fried for T'giving!
 
Dude, I thought you were gonna use that turkey as a broth for GUMBO! Soup. Sacrilege. Soup is what they do with food before they throw it away.

Yeah, tis true but once in a while a brave voodoo magic man
will swim the 300 miles and wash up on our shores.
If Homeland Security does not catch him, he sets up shop
as an "herbalist". I've had several small dolls with pins
made for my ex-wife!!

I would just leave the peas on the plate for the dog to clean up...so may as well leave them either in the can or frozen and on the grover's shelf.

The wife feels the same way!
 
Dish to pass Christmas party at church. too much food to list! all tasty.. some really good chili, green bean cassarol, some southwest spinach pasta stuff that was really good, taco dip, lots of cookies and cake, then gift exchange (white elephant game) and some music. just got home (10:30). lots of fun
 
I set up some nice cream chipped beef on toast, also known as SOS. I just love that stuff. The rest of the family does not share my excitement when I cook this, so tomorrow I guess I'll have to burn some steaks to make up for it.

Ah, SOS, ....-on-a-shingle. Ate enough of that stuff in the Army back during the Vietnam era. Am addicted to it.
 
Friends treated us to marinated flank steak and 'shrooms last eve. Most excellent. That postponed the plan for a "beer-can chicken" 'til this evening.

...I can't stand SOS, nor going into any "Piccadilly" or "Morrison's" cafeteria type eatery, even after thirty years away from chow halls. No thanks. I'll het a can of beans over a fire before I'll pay for chow-hall eats. "Gang eating" is not pleasurable in the least to me. I'd rather get a 'burger and fries to go and eat it in the car.

Bellyin' up to a board with a gang of family and friends is a completely diff'rent thing tho. Ready for that any time. :wink:
 
Beer can chicken sounds great, but it's so miserable cold here I doubt the grill will stay hot enough or if I really want to go outside.

Thinking about making a chicken tagine with preserved lemons and olives and inviting some friends over. I'll decide during the sermon.
 
We made our own Italian sausage and took the opportunity to enjoy a sausage burger. Mmmmm Mmmmm good, and hot.
 
pasta sauce has been bubbling for a couple of hours now, just havn't decided what pasta to have with it.

Many moons ago, my first wife (Irish in every sense of the word) cooked
the pasta noodles for 8 hours and then warmed up a can of 'sghetti sauce
and dumped it it on top of the congealed glob of pasta.

Rather ugly it was!!
